Frequently asked questions
I'm wider through the middle. Won't an open jacket with no buttons make me look bigger?
It's the opposite, and the photos don't really show why. The corduroy runs in vertical ribs, so your eye travels up and down instead of side to side, and the two gold tone-button tabs pull the fabric in right at your natural waist. You get a defined middle and a long, narrow line — without a closed front stretching across your stomach.
Does corduroy still look current, or is it dated?
It looks current when it's cut clean, and this one is: no big patch pockets, no bulky collar, just a soft V-neckline and a long line. Keep the rest simple — a plain tee or tank, straight or slim jeans, flats or boots — and it reads modern, not retro.
What temperature is this actually good for?
Think fall and spring, roughly 50–65°F. Over a tee it's a real jacket on a cool morning, and with a thin sweater underneath it stretches a bit colder. It's not built to replace a winter coat in snow or hard wind.
How does it wash, and will it lose its shape?
Machine wash it cold with similar colors and hang it to dry — no dryer, no bleach. Polyester corduroy holds its shape well that way, and skipping the heat keeps the ribbed texture and the waist tabs from going soft.

Email contact@hartwell-oaks.com with your order number and the items you’d like to return or exchange. We’ll send you a printable UPS return label — pack the items with their tags and drop the parcel at any UPS location.
Is return shipping free?
A return shipping fee applies to standard returns and is deducted from your refund. Returns are free if an item arrived damaged, faulty or incorrect — just send us a photo and we’ll take care of everything.
When will I receive my refund?
Once your return arrives at our warehouse and has been checked, we issue the refund to your original payment method and confirm it by email. Depending on your bank, it can take a few additional business days to appear on your statement.

Always follow the care label. As a rule: wash gently in cold water or have it dry cleaned, dry knitwear flat, store it folded rather than on a hanger, and let wool rest a day between wears.
