How do I make the ink puff up?
Let the drawing dry, then apply gentle heat over the lines. Keep the heat moving so you warm the whole area evenly instead of one spot.
Which surfaces work best?
Paper and card stock give the most consistent results. On smoother surfaces like glass or plastic, test a small patch first to see how the ink sits and rises.
Should an adult handle the heating step?
Yes. Kids can do all the drawing, but an adult should manage the heat so the process stays safe and controlled.
Do the tips clog if I leave them out?
Cap each pen after use and store them flat. If a tip feels slow to start, press it lightly on scrap paper for a few seconds to get the ink flowing again.
How to use
- Step 1: Shake the pen and press the tip on scrap paper until the ink flows.
- Step 2: Draw your design. Keep lines thick enough to see clearly — thin scratches puff up less.
- Step 3: Let the ink dry for 1–2 minutes.
- Step 4: Apply gentle, moving heat over the drawing until the lines rise. Stop as soon as they look raised.

How do I start a return or exchange?
Email contact@hartwell-oaks.com with your order number and the items you’d like to return or exchange. We’ll send you a printable UPS return label — pack the items with their tags and drop the parcel at any UPS location.
Is return shipping free?
A return shipping fee applies to standard returns and is deducted from your refund. Returns are free if an item arrived damaged, faulty or incorrect — just send us a photo and we’ll take care of everything.
When will I receive my refund?
Once your return arrives at our warehouse and has been checked, we issue the refund to your original payment method and confirm it by email. Depending on your bank, it can take a few additional business days to appear on your statement.

What if I’m between two sizes?
The Size Assistant tells you when you’re between sizes and which one gives a closer or roomier fit. For coats and jackets you’ll wear over knitwear, we usually recommend the larger size.

All clothing is sized in US sizes. For shoes, the Size Assistant converts your usual US, EU or UK size — or your foot length — into the right size for each style.

How should I care for wool and cashmere?
Always follow the care label. As a rule: wash gently in cold water or have it dry cleaned, dry knitwear flat, store it folded rather than on a hanger, and let wool rest a day between wears.
